Class Descriptions
Alignment Yoga
This all levels class draws from the foundations of Alignment principles . Seasoned students along with beginners are welcome. Unique sequences are designed to align both the physical body and the subtle (energetic) body. The teacher will take you through detailed alignment in each pose. Emphasis is made on longer held postures promoting proper alignment, strength, balance and coordination. Modifications can be made to accommodate individual students needs
Basic Yoga-Beginner's 101
The focus of this class is on the fundamentals of the principals of alignment; learning basic Yoga postures and breath awareness. Classes will introduce Yoga philosophy, relaxation and meditation. Through clear instruction students will experience the life affirming benefits of Yoga; becoming more in tune with their bodies while strengthening and toning. This class is supportive and fun, a great class for beginners or those wanting to go back to basics.
Belly Dance-beginner
This ancient dance form is a great way to express yourself and learn something new in a supportive atmosphere. This class is suitable for beginners with no dance experience and open to women of all ages, shapes and sizes. You will learn basic techniques, like the shimmy and snake arms, as well as some easy choreography. This is a fantastic way to tone up and have some fun!
Heart Center Aligment Yoga (All Levels)
This class is open to All levels, from the experienced Yogi to the beginning student. Each class will hold a theme to connect us to our center( our hearts) . Poses will focus on aligning the body through strength and flexibility to find expansive feelings of joy and freedom in our body, heart and mind.
Beginner Vinyasa Flow
This beginner class is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of a flowing Yoga practice, through breath synchronized movement. Students will practice basic postures yet learn how to transition from one posture to the next with safe alignment. Most sequences will initiate through Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) and will be broken down by posture. The room may be slightly heated, aiding in flexibility and leaving you cleansed. A beginner flow is an option for those of you who are new to Yoga and want an athletic approach. Modifications are offered/demonstrated to accomodate students needs. This is also a great class for seasoned practioners to go back to basics, to work on alignment and breath.
Community Yoga
Rotating teachers each week, classes will be basic, and reflect the teacher's style. This is a donation based class with proceeds going to local charities, all are welcome. $5.00 minimum donation requested.
Yoga Therapeutics
The combination of alignment principles and gentle movement with a therapeutic approach to proper technique help to release muscular imbalances and assist in postural correction. The pace of this class is slow yet determined. The use of props will enable comfort and ease in the release of stored tension. Students should be prepared to spend a significant amount of time on their backs. The class will also include kneeling, supported seated and standing poses with modifications offered when needed. This class is for the person who wants to unwind at a slow moving, deeply relaxing pace.
Prana Flow
~Prana~life force of creation ~the breath~ Focus is on intergrating breath with movement in an energetic wave flow, practicing vinyasa combinations for all levels that are effective, creative, safe, and fun from opening namaskar to the peak pose! With emphasis on alignment and purposeful holds, you will be guided through the movements in a fluid and liberating way with inspiring words and music while cultivating awareness, gaining flexibility, as well as inner and outer strength!
Gentle Flow with Yoga Nidra
Dive into basic yoga poses with attention to breath, alignment and mindfulness. Less physically challenging and open to all levels of practice and abilities. Supportive props and soothing music help to create a blissful class that is perfect for stress releif and overall well being. Relax and renew~ bringing balance and peace to your life~ Followed by thirty minutes of Yoga Nidra, a deep sleep state with conscious awareness. Surrender in this Lunar Savasana through guided meditation. Experience a true sense of tranquility and restoration. The combination of Gentle Flow Yoga followed by Yoga Nidra is the ultimate anditote to our busy lifestyle!
Morning Flow Yoga
Wake up your body, mind and soul in this all levels morning flow. Basic knowledge of Yoga poses is helpful. Integrating breath and movement, strength and flexibility while moving through various Yoga sequences (based on the teacher's individual style). Modifications can be made allowing students to move at their own pace. The room is heated, not hot for this class. A great way to start your day!
Rock your Asana
This class is meant for you to let go and have fun. This is a great way to end your work week and kick off the weekend! Yoga experience is required. The room is heated, not hot for this class, but be prepared to sweat as you will create internal heat! Although music is played in most of our classes, this class has the volume up quite a bit! Expect to hear upbeat music; anything from pop, world beats, rock or chanting! Students can anticipate an energizing flow and a challenge.
Slow Flow
Some Yoga experience is suggested for this class...it is not as vigorous as our Flow class, yet not for brand new beginners. The room is heated, aiding in flexibility and leaving you cleansed. Through breath synchronized movement you will flow through various sequences with longer holds, allowing the muscles to release, while we train our minds to remain calm. This practice promotes a strong and flexible physical body, as well as a calm and undisturbed mind. Modifications are offered/demonstrated to accommodate students needs. Great music and readings make this class even more enjoyable.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga (room is heated)
The room is heated for this class and the postures move more quickly, creating heat internally, aiding in flexibility and cleansing. Be prepared to move and sweat as your body flows through various Yoga sequences (based on the teacher's individual style), using your breath as a guide. Students can expect to be challenged and invigorated...all while building strength, stability, flexibility and grace.
ZUMBA!
Zumba combines Latin and International music with a fun and effective workout system. The instructor will lead the class with easy to follow movements that anyone can do, using visual and hand cues, combining dance and fitness moves. The music will be pumping, and although you are working out, you will have fun! Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. Let's DITCH THE WORKOUT AND JOIN THE PARTY!
(kids Zumba)
ages 6-12 All the fun the adults have in Zumba! is now offered to children too. Ages 6-12. Fun and easy to follow movements will get children moving and enjoying themselves!
